Peer Reviewer

Journal of Science Education Research & Review is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal focusing on science education. The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.

The journal publishes only manuscripts that have undergone a rigorous evaluation process and have been approved by qualified researchers and academics with expertise relevant to the manuscript’s subject area. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two to three independent reviewers.

Detailed information regarding the manuscript submission process, from initial submission by the author to the final editorial decision, is outlined below.

Manuscript Review Workflow

  1. Manuscript submission by the author through the journal’s online submission system (route 1).
  2. Initial screening and selection by the journal manager and editors (route 2).

At this stage, the editor has the authority to accept, reject, or forward the manuscript for peer review. Prior to further processing, each manuscript undergoes a plagiarism check using Turnitin.

  3. Peer review process conducted by reviewers with relevant subject expertise (routes 3–4).
  4. Editorial decision notification—acceptance, revision, or rejection—communicated to the author based on reviewers’ reports (route 5).
  5. Manuscript revision by the author in accordance with reviewers’ comments and recommendations.
  6. Resubmission of the revised manuscript by the author, following the same submission flow as the initial submission (route 1).
  7. If the reviewers determine that the revisions are satisfactory, the editor issues a formal acceptance notification (route 6).
  8. Galley proof preparation and publication process (routes 7 and 8).

Steps 1 through 5 constitute one complete round of the peer review process. The Journal of Science Education Research & Review requires that each manuscript undergo a minimum of two rounds of peer review to ensure academic quality and integrity.

Editorial Decisions

The editor and/or editorial board carefully consider the reviewers’ feedback before making a final decision. The most common editorial decisions include:

  1. Accept without revision (acceptance): The manuscript is accepted for publication in its original form.
  2. Accept with minor revisions (acceptance): The manuscript is accepted for publication after the author makes minor corrections.
  3. Accept with major revisions (conditional acceptance): The manuscript is accepted for publication provided the author makes substantial revisions as recommended by the reviewers and/or editors.
  4. Revise and resubmit (conditional rejection): The manuscript may be reconsidered in a subsequent review round after the author addresses major concerns.
  5. Reject (outright rejection): The manuscript is rejected and will not be published or reconsidered, even if major revisions are made.
