Citation and Referencing Policy

Jurnal Sosial & Politik Kontemporer requires authors to provide accurate, complete, consistent, and verifiable references for all sources cited in their manuscripts.

References should establish the scholarly context of the research, support its theoretical and methodological foundations, and allow readers to verify the sources used.

01

Citation Style

Official citation style

The journal adopts [insert the officially selected citation style, such as APA 7th Edition].

Authors must apply the selected citation style consistently throughout the manuscript, including in-text citations, quotations, and the reference list.

02

Accuracy and Completeness

Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all bibliographic information, including:

  • author names;
  • publication year;
  • article or book title;
  • journal or publisher name;
  • volume, issue, and page range where applicable;
  • DOI or URL where available; and
  • other information required by the selected citation style.

All in-text citations must correspond to entries in the reference list, and every reference-list entry must be cited in the manuscript.

03

Quality and Relevance of Sources

Authors should prioritize credible and relevant scholarly sources, including peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, authoritative institutional reports, and appropriate primary sources.

References should be selected according to their relevance and contribution to the research rather than solely on the basis of publication date or citation metrics.

Authors are encouraged to engage with current scholarship while acknowledging foundational works where appropriate.

04

DOI and Electronic Sources

Authors should provide DOI links for scholarly publications whenever available. URLs should be functional and direct readers to the cited source.

Information obtained from official websites, institutional documents, legislation, government reports, and other electronic materials should be cited accurately according to the journal's reference style.

05

Reference Management Software

Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote to organize bibliographic information and maintain citation consistency.

Mendeley
EndNote

Automated reference generation must be checked manually to prevent incorrect, incomplete, or fabricated citations.

06

Citation Ethics

Authors must not fabricate references, cite sources they have not reasonably verified, manipulate citations, or include irrelevant references solely to increase citation counts.

Excessive self-citation and inappropriate citation practices should be avoided.

07

Editorial Verification

The Editorial Office may request corrections to incomplete, inaccurate, inconsistent, or unverifiable references before a manuscript proceeds to publication.

08

Editorial Commitment

The journal seeks to ensure that published research is supported by accurate, transparent, relevant, and academically credible references.
