Editorial Policy

Jurnal Sosial & Politik Kontemporer maintains a strict policy against plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct.

The journal considers originality, proper attribution, and responsible use of scholarly sources essential to academic publishing.

01

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes presenting another person's words, ideas, arguments, data, images, or other intellectual contributions as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment.

It may include direct copying without quotation or attribution, inappropriate paraphrasing, uncredited translation, and reuse of previously published material without proper citation or disclosure.

02

Self-Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication

Authors must not republish substantial portions of their previously published work as new research without appropriate acknowledgment and disclosure.

Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals is prohibited.

Any legitimate overlap with prior publications must be transparently disclosed and appropriately cited.

03

Similarity Screening

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software, such as Turnitin or comparable tools.

Official similarity threshold

The journal's target similarity threshold is [insert the officially adopted threshold, if any].

Similarity scores are evaluated in context. A numerical score alone does not establish plagiarism, because legitimate quotations, references, technical terminology, and standard methodological expressions may contribute to textual similarity.

04

Editorial Assessment

01 · Evidence review

The Editorial Office evaluates similarity reports and other evidence to determine whether the identified overlap is acceptable or constitutes a potential violation.

02 · Author clarification

Authors may be asked to clarify the origin of similar text or provide supporting documentation.

05

Consequences of Misconduct

Depending on the severity and circumstances, suspected or confirmed plagiarism may result in:

  • a request for clarification or correction before review;
  • rejection of the submitted manuscript;
  • suspension of the editorial process while an investigation is conducted;
  • notification to relevant institutions where justified; or
  • correction, expression of concern, or retraction of a published article.

The journal will consider the available evidence and provide an appropriate opportunity for explanation when warranted.

06

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for the originality of their manuscripts, the accuracy of citations, and compliance with copyright and publication ethics requirements.

07

Editorial Commitment

Jurnal Sosial & Politik Kontemporer is committed to preserving originality, preventing publication misconduct, and maintaining trust in the scholarly record.
